The Waterford Greenway is a 46-kilometre trail stretching from Waterford City to Dungarvan, built along an old railway line. It’s mostly flat route makes it perfect for walking, cycling, or even casual family outings, offering stunning views of the Comeragh Mountains, the River Suir, and parts of the Copper Coast. Along the way, visitors can enjoy historic railway stations, scenic bridges, tunnels, and viaducts, as well as attractions like Mount Congreve Gardens. Bike hire is available at multiple points, including Waterford City, Kilmacthomas, and Dungarvan, making it easy to explore the Greenway even if you don’t have your own bike. The Greenway is suitable for all ages and abilities, providing a relaxing outdoor experience while showcasing the natural and cultural beauty of County Waterford.

A key highlight along the trail is Mayfield Birds of Prey, located in Kilmacthomas. This centre allows visitors to meet, handle, and learn about birds such as hawks, falcons, and owls. It offers educational displays and interactive experiences, making it an excellent stop for families, wildlife enthusiasts, or anyone seeking a unique experience.
