Experience one of the most memorable hawk walk Ireland activities at Mayfield Birds of Prey & Wildlife Centre, just outside Kilmacthomas in Co. Waterford. This is a truly immersive birds of prey walking experience, where you walk through the countryside as a Harris hawk flies freely around you, returning to the glove as you move through the landscape.
Led by Willie, a fully licensed and highly experienced falconer, this is not a show, a performance, or a fixed route. Every falconry walk in Ireland here is different, shaped by the bird, the weather, and the group on the day.
Whether you’re looking for a private, once in a lifetime experience or a shared group walk, the Hawk Walk is one of the most authentic falconry experiences available in Ireland.
The Hawk Walk is a relaxed outdoor experience lasting approximately 2 hours. You’ll head out on foot through natural countryside while a Harris hawk flies ahead, perches in nearby trees, and swoops back to the glove for food as you walk.
Willie talks you through:
This is an educational, calm and deeply engaging experience that suits adults, families, and couples looking for something genuinely different to do in Ireland’s Ancient East.
Private Hawk Walk (Exclusive Experience)
A Private Hawk Walk Ireland experience means your group is not mixed with anyone else.
It’s ideal for:
Public Group Hawk Walk
The Public Hawk Walk follows the same route and experience, but you may be joined by other small groups or families. It’s a great option if you’re happy to share the experience while still enjoying plenty of interaction with the hawk.
